US Army Specialist and LPC student Gary Gardner, nominated Trummel for her outstanding support for military enlisted students and veterans.
"Trummel, motivated me to become a tutor," Gardner said. "It is by far one of the best things I have done. It's very fulfilling."
US Army Sergeant Bostic, and LPC students Private Tim Bonnell and US Army Specialist Gary Gardner represented the armed forces for the award presentation.
The award process begins with an essay written on her behalf that was sent through the chain of military command for approval. The essay is later reviewed by the Department of Defense National Committee for Employment Support of the Guard and Reserve. Trummel has been recognized for her contributions in preserving the skill and zeal of National Guard and Reserve units.
Trummel was taken by surprise when the uniformed men entered the room to present her with the award.
"It's quite an honor," Trummel said. "I love supporting our military. It came with no question at all when hiring him (Gardner). To me, we are the ones with the blessing."
Trummel feels that working to help the military is her pleasure. She enjoys being able to give back to those who serve our country.
At LPC, Trummel is in charge of the Writing Tutorial Center in the 2400 building. Many students can take advantage of private tutors that are available by appointment and the center is open for all to come in and study in a comfortable atmosphere.
Trummel is a pleasant face that greets everyone who enters the doors and she is the behind the scenes grunt worker that makes tutoring accessible for all.
If students are looking for extra help in their classes, fill out a form in the Writing Tutorial Center and Trummel will work with the tutors and students to help out the best she can.
She stands as an example for contribution to LPC and military assistance.
