"I'm not obsessed with Facebook," Avila said. "But I use it."
According to Avila, using social networking Web sites does not impede on her studies.
The reason that we are all college students is to earn some sort of degree. We all don't need an AA in Social Networking. We are all yearning toward a more, let's say, valid education. The solution to this issue is purely based upon common sense. If you really want Facebook to be a part of your life at LPC, bring your own computer! Allow other students to use facility computers. Campus computers should be used solely for legitimate academic purposes.
What defines legitimate?
Legitimate means homework, research projects, CLASS-Web and Blackboard. It doesn't mean social networking sites such as Facebook.
On the other hand, email should be the only permissible medium of online communication on campus-controlled computers.
Common courtesy exists only as far as we can extend it. Reach out to those that are waiting to use a computer and let them take your seat.
