Hawks fight to victory as night fell against Foothill College.
With darkness setting over Las Positas, the Hawks managed to hold off Foothill by a score of 3-2. It came down to the wire as Foothill scored their two goals late in the second half. Seeing the score was 3-2 with just minutes left on the clock, Foothill kicked it into high gear with last minute shots being blocked by goalie Joey Leal. Leal was strong at the end even though darkness was setting in,
"It was tough playing in the dark," said Michael Augello. "It was hard to see which way the ball was going sometimes."
Early in the game the Hawks knew where the ball was going, right into the net. With goals by Alex Amador, Chase Swalwell and Oscar Duarte, the Hawks took the lead and never let it go. One thing the refs also saw when the sun was out was a lot of hard hits. Two off those hard hits came form Las Positas midfielder Alex Amador who received a red card early in the second half.
"I was a little too aggressive," said Amador.
Aggressive was the word for it, as hard hits were all over the place.
"It was an aggressive game," said Coach Rodriguez. "I like how the team did and am happy with the win."
