On Friday October the 20th, our men shut down Evergreen College, 3-2 here on our field.
This was the men's second victory over Evergreen. ?LPC defeated Evergreen 6-1 therefore they came back prepared to give us a battle,? says assistant coach Rodriguez. ?We scored in the first 45 seconds which gave us a strong lead in claiming the game. During the second half, Evergreen came back with a force but we were able to contain. The game was physical and the men were going at each other with more brutality.?
?Especially in the last twenty minutes, there was an element of Rugby,? stated Coach Larry Aguiar. ?The referee should have made more calls but our men kept their composure even though we received four cards today.?
Will Hartkopf, Frankie Trujillo, and Khalil Dadgar, received the cards with a double yellow that turned into a red given to Semi Kim.
Alex Amador scored the first goal with an assist made by Will Hartkopf.
Frankie Diaz scored the second goal on a penalty kick shooting over Evergreen's wall. ?They were hackling me in the box,? said Diaz. Mike Augello made the penalty shot which was followed up and tipped into the goal by Will Hartkopf. On this penalty, three of the players stormed and broke Evergreens defensive wall. Hartkopf followed up the shot knocking the goalie down on to his knees to score the last goal of the game.
?I didn't think I played to my full potential,? said Diaz, though he scored the first goal and received one yellow card.
?The MPV today was Gary Zuniga,? assistant Rodriguez says. ?Gary played three different positions today from back-to middle-to side. He is versatile and a key for the game.?
The men played incredibly rough with an exciting edge of Rugby.
